Owned an escort rs turbo. (10 YEARS AGO)Blew a hole through one of the pistons (or so they said) took the car to S.P.A motors.Quoted 1000 - 1500 for work to be done (engine rebuild)After being told it would take 2 weeks tops to complete the work....... 11 weeks later car was finally ready.Final Price = 4089.00. (ONLY PAID 2500 FOR THE CAR IN THE FIRST PLACE)Had to borrow money from family members to pay the extortionate cost.Got car home and they had broken the front bumper in the process of carrying out the work. The car never ran the same again. (2 MONTHS LATER BENT CON ROD ON SAME PISTON.)ABSOLUTE CON ARTISTS. Avoid like the plague.
Excellent serviceI passed by, they immediately gave me an appointment to do a check the following Saturday and after that, the dignosis has been promptly done. The owner called me the day after, first to ask for more details about my car (that is an Italian one and it's a bit more tricky to manage) and later to tell me the price of the spare parts and the labour rate, to which, he told me, I should have consider to add the VAT. (I've paid attention to this because of a review I read about them).He has been kind organizing the job on Saturday (I need the car every day to go to work).He didn't want the money, but after I've received the invoice at home. Once arrived I called, but they told me that the owner wasn't there for all the week, to call back. At the end, I've paid 2 weeks in late and by phone with the credit card!No pressure, good service and really honest prices.Thank you SPA Motors for the excellent service!
I will amend this post if necessary as currently questioning the invoice.My car broke down on me and using the car for work as I am on the road I needed a garage that could squeeze me in. Having had a few quotes both in Cambridge and newmarket I chose this garage 1 because the guy I spoke to was very helpful and 2 its a local business.First thing first the professionalism and attitude is what Id expect and Im happy with the way theyre handling my challenge however Im challenging for a few reasons1. Double what I was told when I first enquired2. No quotebefore work carried out3. No invoice or price when I called after the work was carried out4 they hadnt taken my number even though I gave it to them5 went to collect the car and found out the price - having already clarified the price numerous times when I called themTo be a little out (10%) is understandable - to be twice the amount is unacceptable and I will challenge until satisfied.Like I said, I will update this post as this develops
